Birch Oak charcoal made from birch and oak for maximum control

European charcoal for maximum temperature control

Birch Oak Charcoal is a carefully composed blend of birch and oak, produced in Europe. The large, restaurant-quality charcoal chunks ensure excellent airflow and make it easier to precisely control the temperature of your kamado, smoker or charcoal barbecue.

The charcoal is made from 100% natural hardwood and contains no chemical additives. The combination of birch and oak delivers powerful performance, a long burn time and a mild oak grilling flavour that does not overpower the natural flavour of your ingredients.

Why are large charcoal chunks important?

Good airflow is essential for a stable, easily controllable fire. Small pieces of charcoal and dust can block the air vents, while large chunks leave enough space between the coals.

This allows oxygen to flow more easily through the fire basket and makes the temperature respond better to adjustments in the airflow. This gives you more control during both gentle low & slow sessions and high-temperature cooking.

Suitable for low & slow and hot & fast

Birch Oak is a versatile charcoal for a wide range of cooking methods. The large, compact chunks burn for a long time and evenly, so you need to refuel less often during a long session.

Want to sear steaks or bake pizzas? The blend can also reach the high temperatures needed for powerful grilling and a crispy result.

Use Birch Oak for:

  • Pulled pork and brisket
  • Spareribs
  • Steaks and burgers
  • Whole chicken and other poultry
  • Fish
  • Grilled vegetables
  • Pizza and bread

A mild oak aroma and grilling flavour

The combination of birch and oak releases a pleasant aroma and a subtle oak grilling flavour while burning. The aroma is noticeable enough to add character, but mild enough not to overpower meat, fish and vegetables.

Want to create a more pronounced smoky flavor? Combine the charcoal with suitable smoking wood for kamado and barbecue .This way, you decide how mild, fruity, or intense the final flavor profile will be.

How to Use Birch Oak Charcoal

Before use, remove excess ash from the kamado to keep the air vents clear. Fill the fire basket with enough charcoal and place the largest pieces at the bottom. Smaller pieces can be distributed on top.

Light the charcoal in one or more places. One ignition point is usually sufficient for a gentle low & slow cook. For rapid heating and high temperatures, you can light it in multiple places.

Initially, leave the air intake fully open and start restricting it in time as the kamado approaches the desired temperature. Ceramic retains heat for a long time, so an overheated kamado cools down less quickly.

Long and consistent burn time

The compact hardwood chunks are designed for long-lasting and even performance. This makes Birch Oak suitable for extended BBQ sessions where a stable temperature is important.

After cooking, you can close the air intake completely to extinguish the fire. Charcoal that has not fully burned can be reused during the next session.

Always store the bag in a dry place and keep it tightly sealed. Damp charcoal is harder to ignite, produces more smoke, and may burn less consistently.

Get more out of your kamado

Birch Oak provides the airflow, burn time, and temperature control you need for versatile cooking. From slow cooking to baking and grilling at high temperatures, this blend helps you get the most out of every session.
