How do you build your Titan from the inside?
That’s quite a lot of parts. So here is the step-by-step sequence.
Applewood smoking chunks for long-lasting, fruity smoke
Long-lasting smoke with a mild, fruity flavor
Apple Smoke Wood Chunks give dishes a light, sweet and fruity smoky aroma. The chunks are made from 100% pure apple wood and contain no additives or treatments.
The wood is dried slowly and naturally for a consistent and clean smoke. Because of their larger size, the chunks smoke longer than fine chips. This allows the mild flavor to build gently during an extended low & slow cook.
What does apple wood smoke taste like?
Apple wood is known for its mild, slightly sweet and approachable smoke profile. The smoke adds extra depth to a dish without quickly overpowering the natural flavor of the main ingredient.
This makes apple wood an excellent choice for delicate ingredients and for outdoor cooks using smoke wood for the first time. Even during a longer cook, its profile remains more refined than that of stronger woods such as hickory.
Which dishes pair well with Apple smoke wood chunks?
Apple wood pairs excellently with:
- Whole chicken and other poultry
- Pulled pork
- Spareribs
- Pork shoulder and pork neck
- Salmon and other types of fish
- Vegetables
- Cheese
- Fruit and sweet dishes
The lightly sweet smoky aroma pairs particularly well with marinades, rubs and sauces containing honey, brown sugar, mustard or mild herbs.
For fish, shrimp and other delicate ingredients, preferably use one small chunk. This prevents the smoky flavor from becoming too strong during cooking.
How to use Apple smoke wood chunks
First bring the kamado or barbecue to the desired temperature. Then place one or more chunks between or directly on the glowing charcoal. The chunks do not need to be soaked in water beforehand.
Distribute the chunks at different points among the charcoal when you want to gradually develop smoke during a longer cook. Then close the lid and keep the vents partially open.
Aim for thin, light-blue smoke. This generally produces a more refined result than thick white smoke, which can cause a harsh or bitter taste.
Ideal for mild low & slow cooks
Apple chunks are suitable for dishes that cook for a longer time at a low temperature. Think pulled pork, spareribs, a whole chicken, or larger cuts of pork. The chunks continue to release smoke for a long time, while the mild character of apple wood prevents the flavor from becoming too overpowering.
For short cooks such as shrimp, fish fillets, and grilled vegetables, fine wood chips are easier to dose. Read more about the difference on the page wood chips or chunks.
How many Apple chunks do you need?
Start with one or two chunks, depending on their size, the cooking time, and the desired smoke intensity. During a long cook, the smoky flavor builds gradually.
More smoking wood is not automatically better. Therefore, start conservatively and adjust the amount during your next cook to suit your personal taste.
100% pure and naturally dried apple wood
The Apple smoking wood chunks consist entirely of pure apple wood. No artificial flavors, additives, or chemical treatments are used. The natural drying process supports even smoke development without unwanted off-flavors.
Combine the chunks with high-quality kamado charcoal for a stable temperature, long burn time, and good air circulation.
